Preliminary work

1. Remove cushion carrier for front backrest. -> 722419 Removing and installing cushion carrier for front backrest - section on "Removing" 722419 Removing and installing cushion carrier for front backrest (air-conditioned comfort seat)

1. Remove foam part -1- at the headrest.

1. Pull off the red and blue hose -1- on the lumbar support control valve -2-.

2. Pull the red and blue hose -1- out of the backrest frame -2-.

3. Pull connectors off the lumbar support sensors.

3.1. Swivel lumbar support -1- upward -arrow A-.
3.2. Pull the two sensors -2- forward behind the backrest panel -arrows B-.
3.3. Release both connectors -3- at the sensors -2- ( -arrow a- ) and unplug them -arrow C-.
4. Remove the two tie-wraps -2- on the lumbar support -1-.

5. Remove lumbar support -1- together with the red and blue hose -3-.

1. Install the lumbar support -1- together with the red and blue hose -3-.

2. Secure the lumbar support -1- to the grille using two new tie-wraps -2-.

3. Attach connectors to the lumbar support sensors.

Observe installation position of connectors!

Push red-lilac-brown connector onto the sensor at the top air cushion.

Push red-white-brown connector onto the sensor at the bottom air cushion.

3.1. Connect the two connectors -3- to the sensors -2- ( -arrow A- ) until they engage securely.
3.2. Push the two sensors -2- behind the backrest panel -arrows B- and fold down the lumbar support -1- ( -arrow C- ).
4. Lay the red hose and the blue hose -1- on the backrest frame -2-.

Information

Observe the installation position of the hoses!

Push on the blue hose onto the connection marked B and push on the red hose onto the connection marked R.

5. Slide the red and blue hose -1- onto the lumbar support control valve -2-.

6. Check the function of the lumbar support using the test cable.

Checking seat following removal

1. Connect the removed seat to the vehicle's wiring harness via test cable 9745 and test cable 9745/1.
2. Connect electric plug to control module trim panel. -> 721619 Removing and installing control module trim panel - section on "Installing" 721619 Removing and installing control module trim panel
3. Connect the battery. -> 2706IN IN -Work instructions after disconnecting the battery External Power Connection, Jump Lead Starting
4. Switch on ignition.
5. Carry out a function check on the seat components.
6. Switch off ignition after function test and disconnect battery.
7. Disconnect test cable 9745 and test cable 9745/1.

Information

Observe the installation position of the hoses!

Make sure that the hoses are not pinched. Insert hoses exactly into the cut-outs on the foam part.
