Wheels and tires/tire pressure

Wheels, tires: visual inspection for damage

Check tires for sufficient tread depth, foreign bodies, pricks, cracks and bulges in the sidewall (ply breakage). Check age of the tires. Replace tires if necessary.

Checking wheel mounting

Use suitable commercially available tools (wrench size 19 mm) together with a tested torque wrench, covering the range up to 130 Nm (96 ftlb.). Never use an impact bolter.

Do not undo the wheel bolts to check whether they are secure. Tighten the wheel bolts to 130 Nm (96 ftlb.). and check that they fit securely.

Tire pressure of cold tires (approx. 20 degrees C) - Boxster and Cayman

Warning
Incorrect tire pressure
Uncontrollable vehicle handling

- Adjust the tire pressure according to specifications. Never allow the pressure to fall below the minimum pressure.

- Check age of tires. Replace tires that are more than 6 years old.

- Perform visual inspections.

- Use new rubber valves at every tire change.

- Use only tires recommended by Porsche.

Information
Valve caps protect the valve from dust and dirt and therefore from leaks! Always screw caps tight and replace any missing caps.

Boxster and Cayman - up to model year 2008 (summer and winter tires)

Boxster and Cayman - from model year 2009 onwards (summer and winter tires)

Spare wheel/collapsible wheel not available! However there is a tire repair kit in the luggage compartment which can be used to repair the damaged tire in the event of damage!
For repairs in the event of damage, observe without fail the safety and operating instructions

When replacing summer tires, pay close attention to the tire specification number! The specification characters N1, N2, N3 or N0 distinguish the summer tires specially authorized by Porsche from other models of the same tire type and size!

Notes on mounting tires

When fitting tires, the direction of rotation and the inner and outer sides should be noted!
If there are no mounting instructions on the tire sidewall, the tire must be mounted so that the DOT code is visible from the outside.
