Preliminary work

1. Remove front and rear part of seat cushion. -> 741319 Removing and installing cover for front seat (folding sports bucket seat) - section on "Removing" 741319 Removing and Installing Cover For Front Seat

Removing cushion carrier for front backrest





Installation position of front backrest shell (sports bucket seat)

1. Disconnect airbag wire harness from the seat shell at the tie-wraps -1-.

2. Turn airbag connector socket 90° to the left -arrow A- and remove it from the seat shell -arrow B-.

3. Disconnect airbag connector socket.

3.1. Remove tie-wrap -2- on the airbag connector socket -1-.
3.2. Release the connector socket -2- ( -arrows- ) and remove the two single connectors -3- ( -arrow B- ).
4. Pull off the cover -1- at the Velcro fasteners -2- and -3- ( -arrows- ).

5. Remove trim on inner hinge.
5.1. Unscrew fastening screw -1-.

5.2. Remove trim on inner hinge -2- ( -arrow- ).
6. Disconnect airbag wire harness.

6.1. Remove tie-wrap -1-.
6.2. Pull airbag wire harness -2- out of the seat shell -3- ( -arrow- ).

Information

Two persons are needed to remove and install the backrest shell.

7. Remove backrest shell.





Removing backrest shell

7.1. Hold backrest shell -1- upright.
7.2. Unscrew fastening nut -2- ( -arrow A- ).
7.3. Remove bearing pin -3- with plain bearing -4- and spring washer -5- ( -arrow B- ).
7.4. Release backrest shell -1- and lift it up out of the seat shell -6- ( -arrow C- ).

Installing cushion carrier for front backrest

Information

Two persons are needed to remove and install the backrest shell.

1. Install backrest shell.





Installing backrest shell

1.1. Position backrest shell -1- on the seat shell -6- until the backrest locking mechanism engages -arrow A-.
1.2. Press bearing pin -3- with plain bearing -4- (dome facing outwards) and spring washer -5- into the guide -arrow B-.
1.3. Turn the bearing pin -3- until it locks into place on the seat shell -6-.
1.4. Tighten fastening nut -2- ( -arrow C- ). => Tightening torque: 22 Nm (16 ftlb.)+/-3 Nm (+/-2 ftlb.)
2. Secure airbag wire harness.

2.1. Push airbag wire harness -2- through the seat shell -3- ( -arrow- ).
2.2. Route airbag wire harness -2- and secure with a new tie-wrap -1-.
3. Install trim on inner hinge.

3.1. Position inner hinge trim -2- ( -arrow- ) and secure with the fastening screw -1-. => Tightening torque: 3 Nm (2 ftlb.)+/-0.5 Nm (+/-0.5 ftlb.)
4. Secure cover.

4.1. Align cover -1- with the side bolsters.

Information

Make sure the Velcro fasteners join cleanly.

4.2. Press on Velcro fasteners -2- and -3- ( -arrows- ).
5. Secure airbag wire harness on the seat shell with two new tie-wraps -1-.

6. Connect airbag connector socket.

6.1. Push the two single connectors -3- into the connector socket -1- ( -arrow- ) until the single connectors engage securely.
6.2. Fit a new tie-wrap -2- on the connector socket -1-.
7. Insert the airbag connector socket into the seat shell -arrow A- and turn it 90° to the right -arrow B-.

Subsequent work

1. Install bottom belt strap guide. -> 692619 Removing and installing belt strap guide (folding sports bucket seat) - section on "Installing" 692619 Removing and installing belt strap guide (folding sports bucket seat)
2. Install front and rear part of seat cushion. -> 741319 Removing and installing cover for front seat (folding sports bucket seat) - section on "Installing" 741319 Removing and Installing Cover For Front Seat
