Symptom
The Sport or Sport Plus mode display is not active in the instrument cluster although Sport or Sport Plus mode is activated. Only the LED in the button lights up.

Cause
Incorrect instrument cluster coding.
Remedial action
Re-code the instrument cluster (PIWIS Tester test software version 27.000 is available as an online update from 06.04.2010).

-> Before commencing work, connect a suitable battery charger with a current rating of at least 40 A to the vehicle battery.
1. Re-code the instrument cluster using the PIWIS Tester with test software version 27.000 (or higher) installed.
1.1. Connect the PIWIS Tester with installed test software version 27.000 (or higher) to the vehicle and switch on ignition.
1.2. Select Diagnostics => Vehicle.
1.3. Select control unit => 'Instrument cluster' and confirm your selection by pressing >>.
1.4. Select menu item => 'Coding' and confirm by pressing >>.
1.5. Select menu item => 'Other' and confirm by pressing >>.
1.6. Select menu item => 'Sport display' and confirm by pressing >>.
1.7. Select menu item => 'Yes' and confirm by pressing F8. Press (double arrows) to return to the menu item => 'Sport display'.
1.8. Select menu item => 'Sport Plus display' and confirm by pressing >>.
1.9. Select menu item => 'Yes' and confirm by pressing F8. Press (double arrows) to return to the menu item => 'Sport Plus display'.
1.10. Select menu item => 'Launch Control display' and confirm by pressing >>.
1.11. Select menu item => 'Active' and confirm by pressing F8.
1.12. Press (double arrows) to return to the menu => 'Instrument cluster' (function selection).
1.13. Select menu item => 'Special functions' and confirm by pressing >>.
1.14. Select menu item => 'Reset' and confirm by pressing >>.
Read the next warning and acknowledge it by pressing F7.
1.15. Once the 'Reset' has been performed, confirm by pressing >>.
1.16. Press ESC to return to the menu => 'Control units' (list of control units).
2. Read out the fault memory and erase it.
2.1. Select 'Special functions' in the => 'Control units' menu and confirm by pressing >>.
2.2. Select 'Erase all fault memories' in the menu => 'Special functions function selection' and confirm by pressing >>.
The faults stored in the fault memories of the various control units are deleted.
If the fault memories of individual control units (e.g. DME) cannot be erased, switch the ignition off and then on again and erase the fault memories of these control units separately.
If other control units are found to have faults, which cannot be erased and are not caused by the instrument cluster coding, these faults must be located and corrected.
2.3. Once you have erased the fault memories, press (double arrows) to return to the menu => 'Control units' (list of control units).
3. Switch off the ignition and disconnect the PIWIS Tester from the vehicle.
