1. Drain engine oil.

2. Remove the oil pan.

Removing oil pump
1. Remove oil pump gear.
1.1. Position the oil pump gear -1- by turning it clockwise at the vibration damper so that the two bores lie parallel to the sealing face.

1.2. Position special tool retaining device 9791 on the oil pump gear.

1.3. Loosen inner Torx screw (M8 x 22) -1- using a long socket-wrench insert (T45) and unscrew it.

1.4. Remove special tool, remove the oil pump gear from the driver and leave the sprocket in the timing chain.
2. Remove oil pump.
2.1. Unscrew six M6 outer Torx screws (E10) => Oil pump and lift up the oil pump.

3. Replace seals on the oil pump.

Removing oil guide (oil plate)
1. Remove oil guide -1-.
1.1. Unscrew six outer Torx screws (E10) M6 x 20 -2- and remove the component (slide towards belt side and lift up and off).

Installation

1. Fit the oil guide -1- and secure in place with six outer Torx screws (E10) M6 x 20 -2-.

1.1. Tighten screws evenly from the inside out.
=> Tightening torque: 13 Nm (9.5 ftlb.)
Installing oil pump
1. Wipe off any traces of oil on the sealing faces with a clean, lint-free cloth.
2. Fit oil pump with new seals.
3. Fit the oil pump.
3.1. Screw in five outer Torx screws (E10) M6 x 30 -1- and one M6 x 96 -2- by hand.

3.2. Slide the oil pump gear and timing chain -1- onto the driver and fit with an inner Torx screw (M8 x 22).
3.3. Check that the two bores are positioned horizontally if necessary by turning at the crankshaft.

3.4. Fit and tighten screws for oil pump evenly.
=> Tightening torque: 13 Nm (9.5 ftlb.)
4. Check the position of the oil pump gear and fit it using special tool retaining device 9791.
4.1. Tighten inner Torx screw (M8 x 22) -1- using a long socket-wrench insert (T45).
=> Initial tightening: 20 Nm (15 ftlb.)
=> Torque angle: 90°

Subsequent work
1. Install the oil pan.
-> 175019 Removing and installing oil pan Service and Repair.
2. Fill in engine oil.
-> 170155 Changing engine oil and oil filter Removal and Replacement.
3. PIWIS Tester 9718 can now be connected.
4. Start the engine and let it heat up until the operating temperature is reached (engine oil temperature is at least 80° C).
5. Inspect the oil pan for leaks.
6. Check engine-oil level.

7. Check engine oil pressure.
