On vehicles equipped with a compact disc radio (CDR 30, I-no. 695), the user data stored by the customer may be lost if the data is not written correctly to the internal memory.
User data includes, for example, preset radio stations and set sound parameters (bass, fader, etc.).
Remedial action
Re-program the compact disc radio using the Update CD specified below.

The Update CD:
- should be used again as part of the workshop equipment and
- should therefore not be left in the vehicle ornot be given to the customer.

Validity of the listed part numbers for Update CDs:
- The relevant Update CD is always valid for the symptom and vehicle described in the document and should only be used specifically for these.
- If the listed Update CD and the related part number is replaced by:
- a new release/version or
- a subsequent Update CD
with a new index in the part number (only the last two digits),
the new/subsequent Update CD also contains the remedial action functions, which you will be familiar with from the previous Update CD.

Re-programming CDR 30 (system software)

-> Before starting work, connect a suitable battery charger with a current rating of at least => Nominal value: 40 A to the jump-start terminals in the engine compartment.
1. Switch on ignition.
2. Switch on CDR 30 and press the CD AUX button.
3. Load the Update CD into CDR 30:
3.1. Press the CD symbol button and select an empty CD slot ( CD 1 - 6 ).
3.2. If there is no empty CD slot, eject the CD in slot 1 by pressing the CD 1 button.
3.3. Insert the Update CD into CDR 30.
4. Confirm the selection menu for starting the CDR 30 update by selecting "Yes".
The modules are downloaded automatically from the Update CD.
A progress bar appears in the display showing how the download is progressing from 0% to 100%.
The following messages appear when the download is 100% complete:
=> "Software download on device CDR 30 check - please wait"
=> __CDR 30__ successful
...Modules done
5. Confirm "OK" in the display by pressing the right rotary knob.
If the message "Error - CD unreadable" appears in the display, please ignore this message.
6. Eject the Update CD.
7. Switch off ignition and disconnect the battery charger from the vehicle.
End of remedial action.
