Preliminary work

Disassembling main support for roof transport system

Information

- The key of the roof transport system can only be removed when the lock cylinder is positioned horizontally with respect to the cap.

- The cap can only be opened and closed when the lock cylinder is vertical. When the roof rack is removed, the pawl must also be actuated in order to close the lid.

1. Open the cap.

1.1. Insert key -1- into the lock cylinder and turn the key to the vertical position -arrow A-.
1.2. Grasp the projecting upper edge of the cap -2- and open the cap by moving it downwards -arrow B-.
2. Remove lock cylinder.

2.1. Open circlip -1- with a pliers and remove it -arrow A-.
2.2. Release lock cylinder -2- at the locking lugs -arrows B- and pull lock cylinder out of the cap -3- ( -arrow C- ).
3. Remove the cap.

3.1. Unscrew fastening screw -1-.
3.2. Fold lid -2- up fully -arrow A- , slide it to one side -arrow B- and disengage the lever -3- ( -arrow C- ).
3.3. Disengage lid -1- from the cap -2- ( -arrow A- ).

3.4. Close cap -2- over slightly -arrow B- and disengage hinge bolt -3- ( -arrows C- ).
4. Remove protective rubber.

4.1. Pull protective rubber -1- off the roof rack -2- ( -arrow- ).

Assembling main support for roof transport system

1. Install protective rubber.

1.1. Align protective rubber -1- on the roof rack -2- and press it in -arrow-.
2. Install the cap.

2.1. Insert hinge bolt -3- into the cap -2- ( -arrows A- ).
2.2. Engage lid -1- in the cap -2- ( -arrow B- ).
2.3. Engage lid -2- with the lever -3- ( -arrows A, B- ).

2.4. Secure lid -2- with the fastening screw -1-.
3. Install lock cylinder.

3.1. Press lock cylinder -2- into the cap -3- ( -arrow A- ) until the locking lugs engage securely.
3.2. Lock lock cylinder -2- using the circlip -1- ( -arrow B- ).
4. Close the cap.





Closing cap

4.1. Release the pawl at the inside and fold up the cap -2- ( -arrow A- ).
4.2. Lock the cap -2- ( -arrow B- ) and pull out the key -1-.

Subsequent work

1. Install roof transport system. -> 669219 Removing and installing roof transport system - section on "Installing" Removal and Replacement
