Preliminary work
CAUTION
Incorrect positioning of transmission jack on oil pan or support surface too small.
- Oil pan or oil guide housing can break.
-> Use wide, rubber-coated support surface on the transmission jack.
-> Choose a solid area on the underside of the engine or on the transmission.
1. Prop up the engine from underneath with a transmission jack (with a wide, rubber-coated support surface) or support the engine on the body. -> 1001IN Supporting V6 3.6-litre DFI engine on the body 1001IN Supporting V6 3.6 l DFI engine on the mounting bracket

3. Remove front axle far enough for the engine carrier to be removed. -> 400619 Removing and installing front-axle carrier - section on "Removing" Service and Repair

Information
- This task can only be performed if the engine has been removed or suspended on the body.
Information
- Do not undo the engine mounts on the engine.
- If the engine mounts have been undone on the engine -A- , they must be aligned using the engine carrier.

1. Loosen the two fastening screws at the left and right -arrows- from above on the hydraulic mounts.

2. Use a suitable, sturdy, long tool to unscrew the two fastening screws securing the engine carrier to the body. Remove engine carrier.

-> When working on the engine suspension, the engine must be appropriately secured against falling or lowering.
-> Never use defective lifting equipment.
-> Only use lifting equipment tested and approved by Porsche.
-> The components are very heavy. There is a danger of crushing.
-> Wear protective gloves.
-> Please observe general warning notes.

1. Undo the two fastening screws => Fastening screws for engine mounting to the left and right on the hydraulic mounts. => Engine carrier

2. Use a suitable, sturdy, long tool to unscrew the two fastening screws securing the engine carrier to the body. Remove engine carrier.
Installing engine carrier
1. Install engine carrier. To do this, first fit and tighten the fastening screws (M10) -arrows- on the hydraulic mounts => Tightening torque: 60 Nm (44 ftlb.). Then tighten the fastening nuts -A- if necessary. Threaded connection securing hydraulic mount to engine carrier => Tightening torque: 75 Nm (56 ftlb.).

2. Tighten new fastening screws securing the engine carrier to the body.=> Initial tightening: 120 Nm (89 ftlb.) => Torque angle: 180°
Subsequent work
