Preliminary work

1. Remove tailpipes. -> 263419 Removing and installing tailpipes on DFI engines (includes adjusting)

Leak test

CAUTION

Danger of burns from hot exhaust system.

-> Allow components to cool down.
-> Wear protective gloves.

Information

- After the connecting clamps in the exhaust system have been released, they must always be replaced.

- During assembly work on the exhaust system, ensure that the components are aligned and installed correctly.

- Seals must be replaced by new ones following removal.

- Observe the correct tightening sequence and tightening torques.

- The general warning notes must be observed. -> 10 The most important working regulations and warning notes

1. Insert stoppers 9710/3 or for the sports flap exhaust system, stoppers 9710/4 together with stoppers 9710/1 on both sides of the rear silencer and tighten these by folding over the lever.
2. Remove the protective cap of the test valve on one side and apply excess pressure of approx. 0.3 bar using a tyre-inflating device.

Information

- The exhaust system must be completely sealed between the engine and the catalytic converters.

3. Check exhaust system for leaks and repair these if necessary.
4. Remove the stoppers.

Subsequent work

1. Install and align the tailpipes. -> 263419 Removing and installing tailpipes on DFI engines (includes adjusting)
