Symptoms

Noises/vibrations from around the front/rear axle.

Causes and remedial action

Noises/vibrations while driving may be caused by damaged wheel bearings at the front or rear axle.

In the event of a complaint, the noises/vibrations must be eliminated according to the specified procedure. The defective components may need to be replaced.

Procedure for eliminating noises and/or vibrations at the wheel bearing

Information

The test drive must be carried out on an even road surface, observing the road traffic regulations.

Information

During the test drive, pay attention to the following information in order to localise the faults:

- Locating noise at front/rear axle, on left/right

- Noises when coasting, when steering in different speed ranges (possibly caused by wheel bearing)

- Pulsing brake pedal when operated, depending on speed

- Vibrations when braking (possibly caused by brake disc run-out or build-up on brake pad)

- Wobbling steering wheel (possibly caused by wheels, brakes)

- Vibrations during acceleration (possibly caused by the drive shaft)
