Removing right knock sensor

Removing right knock sensor

1. Remove intake manifold. -> 243519 Removing and installing air box for throttle housing on DFI engines (intake pipes upstream of throttle valve) Service and Repair
2. Remove connector on the right knock sensor (under the exhaust manifold) at the front of the cylinder head cover and release the socket -A, B and E in bottom part of illustration-.

Right cable lead

3. Unscrew the right knock sensor (under the exhaust manifold). To do this, loosen the fastening screw -arrow- and remove the knock sensor. Unclip cable. Remove knock sensor.

Installing right knock sensor

Installing right knock sensor

CAUTION

Engine damage and changed exhaust behaviour due to incorrectly mounted knock sensors.

-> The precise tightening torque for the knock-sensor screw must be observed, otherwise the proper function of the knock sensor is not ensured.
-> The knock sensors must a aligned so that the sensor housing and the cable plug do not touch anywhere, otherwise proper functioning of the knock sensor is not ensured.

Information

- Clean contact surface of knock sensor with a cloth.

1. Position knock sensor with fastening screw on the cylinder block. Route the cable so that it is facing the front of the vehicle. Clip in cable. Tighten the fastening screw.=> Tightening torque: 20 Nm (15 ftlb.)

Fastening screw

2. Fit cable plug.
3. Fit the intake manifold. -> 243519 Removing and installing air box for throttle housing on DFI engines (intake pipes upstream of throttle valve) Service and Repair

Removing left knock sensor

Removing left knock sensor

1. The left knock sensor is difficult to reach under the intake-air distributor. First, remove the intake-air distributor. -> 244619 Removing and installing DFI intake-air distributor Overhaul
