WM 701949 Eliminating noise symptoms - Reworking cover for instrument panel
General information
Symptoms
Rattling/buzzing noises from around the cover for the instrument panel.
Causes and remedial action
Rattling/buzzing noises can be heard while driving due to tolerances between the instrument panel and the cover for the instrument panel.
In the event of a complaint, raschel tape must be affixed to the cover for the instrument panel to remedy the situation on vehicles manufactured before the date of introduction February 2006.

Removing cover for instrument panel
1. Removing cover for instrument panel
1.1. Unclip cover for instrument panel -1- using a plastic wedge at the retaining clips -2- ( -arrow A- ) and swivel it out.

1.2. Remove cover for instrument panel -1- to the rear -arrow B-.
Reworking cover for instrument panel
1. Reworking cover for instrument panel
1.1. Cut a strip of raschel tape approx. 280 mm long.
Cut two strips of raschel tape each approx. 60 mm long.
Cut four strips of raschel tape each approx. 25 mm long.
Sticking on raschel tape
1.2. Stick raschel tape -1- at dimension -X= 10 mm- completely around the edge of the cover for the instrument panel -2- ( -arrows- ).
1.3. Also stick strips of raschel tape -3- at -Y= 60 mm-.
1.4. Stick raschel tape -4- around the bore.

1. Installing cover for instrument panel
1.1. Insert cover for instrument panel -1- at the front -arrow A-.
Installing cover for instrument panel
1.2. Swivel cover for instrument panel -1- inward -arrow B- and press it in until the retaining clips -2- click into place.
