Preliminary work

Draining refrigerant. -> 870317 Draining and filling in refrigerant - section on "draining" Service and Repair

Remove air-conditioning compressor from engine.

Removing compressor/condenser line

Information

Close off all lines and connections using suitable plugs during removal.

Before re-installing the component, check the O-rings of the refrigerant lines for damage and replaced them if necessary.





Installation position





1. Unscrew fastening screw -1- on compressor, pull out line on compressor and remove it from support -7-.

2. Unscrew fastening nut -5- on cable holder, open cable holder and pull line out of rubber mounting -6-.

3. Unscrew fastening screw -3- on connection point and pull out line.
4. Remove line downwards from the engine area.

Installing compressor/condenser line

Information

Before re-installing the component, check the O-rings of the refrigerant lines for damage and replaced them if necessary.

Wet the O-rings of the refrigerant lines with refrigerant oil.

Do not open the plugs for the lines and connections until shortly before installation.

1. Insert line from below into engine compartment.

2. Insert line into evaporator line and secure using the fastening screw -3-. => Tightening torque: 14 Nm (10.5 ftlb.)
3. Push line into the compressor, secure with the fastening screw -1- and clip line into the support. => Tightening torque: 21 Nm (16 ftlb.)

4. Insert line in underbody area into rubber mount -6- , close support and secure with fastening nut -5-.

Install air-conditioning compressor on engine.

Fill in refrigerant. -> 870317 Draining and filling in refrigerant - section on "Filling in" Service and Repair
