Technical values





Preliminary work

1. Remove the spoiler drive. -> 667219 Removing and installing spoiler drive - section on "Removing" 66721903 Removing and installing spoiler drive
2. Remove rear window. -> 648619 Removing and installing rear window - section on "Removing" Service and Repair
3. Remove moulding for rear lid. -> 664719 Removing and installing moulding for rear lid - section on "Removing"
4. Remove logos on rear lid. -> 665055 Replacing rear logo - section on "Removing"
5. Remove rear lid. -> 559019 Removing and installing rear lid - section on "Removing" Removal and Replacement

Disassembling rear lid

1. Remove electronic components (depending on equipment).
1.1. Remove antenna control unit.-> 918619 Removing and installing antenna control unit - section on "Removing" Service and Repair
1.2. Remove antenna amplifier. -> 918419 Removing and installing antenna amplifier - section on "Removing" Service and Repair
1.3. Remove control unit for auxiliary heater. -> 821819 Removing and installing control unit for auxiliary heater - section on "Removing" Service and Repair
1.4. Remove antenna for auxiliary heater. -> 820819 Removing and installing antenna for auxiliary heater - section on "Removing" Service and Repair
2. Remove rear lid seals (on lid side). -> 559419 Removing and installing rear lid seal - section on "Removing" Service and Repair
3. Remove adjusting elements for tailgate.

3.1. Unscrew fastening screws -1- for adjusting element.
3.2. Remove adjusting element.
4. Pull water drains for spoiler module -2- out of the opening in the panel.

5. Pull off adhesive film -3-.

6. Remove insulation from rear lid.

6.1. Pull moulded parts -4- out of the opening in the panel.
6.2. Pull off affixed section of insulation -4-.

7. Pull guides for wire harness/caps -5- out of the openings in the panel.

8. Unscrew ball joint -6-.
9. Remove mounting for rubber stop -7-.

9.1. Loosen mountings for rubber stop by turning them 90°.
9.2. Remove mountings for rubber stop.

Assembling rear lid

1. Install electronic components (depending on equipment).
1.1. Install antenna control unit. -> 918619 Removing and installing antenna control unit - section on "Installing" Service and Repair
1.2. Install antenna amplifier. -> 918419 Removing and installing antenna amplifier - section on "Installing" Service and Repair
1.3. Install control unit for auxiliary heater. -> 821819 Removing and installing control unit for auxiliary heater - section on "Installing" Service and Repair
1.4. Install antenna for auxiliary heater. -> 820819 Removing and installing antenna for auxiliary heater - section on "Installing" Service and Repair
2. Install rear lid seals (on lid side). -> 559419 Removing and installing rear lid seal - section on "Installing" Service and Repair
3. Install mounting for rubber stop -7-.

3.1. Insert mountings for rubber stop into the rear lid.
3.2. Secure mountings for rubber stop by turning them 90°.
4. Press guides for wire harness/caps -5- into the relevant openings in the panel.
5. Screw in ball joint -6- => Tightening torque: 46 Nm (34 ftlb.).

6. Install insulation for rear lid.

6.1. Press moulded pieces -4- into the opening in the panel until the edges of the moulded pieces are touching the rear lid all the way around.
6.2. Align and affix section of insulation -4-.

Information

- Immediately before sticking on, wash off the areas on which you intend to stick the seal using isopropanol to ensure that all traces of silicone, grease and oil are completely removed.

7. Attach adhesive film -3-.

7.1. Clean bonding surfaces with silicone remover.
7.2. Pull protective paper off the adhesive film.
7.3. Align and press on adhesive film.
7.4. Pull off protective layer of adhesive film.
7.5. Check the affixed film for bubbles and defects.
8. Install water drains for spoiler module -2-.

8.1. Press water drain into the relevant opening in the panel.
8.2. Check that the water drain is engaged at the water drain tray on the spoiler module.
9. Install adjusting element.

9.1. Place adjusting element in installation position -A-.
9.2. Guide adjusting clip -B- in as far as it will go.
9.3. Screw in fastening screws -1-.

Subsequent work

1. Install rear lid. -> 559019 Removing and installing rear lid - section on "Installing" Removal and Replacement
2. Install rear window. -> 648619 Removing and installing rear window - section on "Installing" Service and Repair
3. Install the spoiler drive. -> 667219 Removing and installing spoiler drive - section on "Installing" 66721903 Removing and installing spoiler drive
4. Install moulding for rear lid. -> 664719 Removing and installing moulding for rear lid - section on "Installing"
5. Fit logos on rear lid. -> 665055 Replacing rear logo - section on "Installing"
