Technical values







Preliminary work
1. If a new control unit has to be installed, the values/coding must be read out using the 2nd generation PIWIS Tester 9818 prior to removing the "old" DME control unit.
2. Remove lower part of centre console cover.

Removing switch console

INFORMATION: The number of plug connections can vary, depending on equipment.







1. Switch off ignition and remove remote control.

2. Unscrew the two fastening screws -1-.







3. Unclip and lift switch console.







4. Release plug connections -2- and -3- ( -a- ) and pull them off -B-.







5. Release plug connection -4- ( -a- ) and pull it off -B-.







6. Release plug connection -5- ( -a- ) and pull it off -B-.

1. Unplug electric plug connection -1-.







2. Loosen the fastening screws -2- and remove strip for switches -3-.

1. Position the strip for switches -3- and secure with the fastening screws -2-.







2. Plug in electric plug connection -1-.

1. Connect plug connection -5- until it engages securely.







2. Connect plug connection -4- until it engages securely.







3. Connect plug connections -2- and -3- until they engage securely.







4. Insert and clip in switch console.







5. Screw in the two fastening screws -1-.







Subsequent work
1. If the control unit was replaced, the "new" control unit must be adapted to suit the vehicle using the 2nd generation PIWIS Tester 9818.
2. Install lower part of centre console cover.

Reading and writing values

NOTE:
Voltage drop
- Risk of irreparable damage to control unit
- Risk of damage to control unit
- Fault entries in the control unit
- Coding in the control unit is aborted
- Malfunctions in control unit, even during programming
- Prior to disconnecting the control unit, switch off the ignition and remove the ignition key.
- Ensure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming.
- Connect a battery charger with a current rating of at least -> Nominal value: 40 A to the vehicle battery.

INFORMATION:
The PIWIS Tester II 9818 instructions take precedence since the description may be different with later Tester releases.

The procedure described here has been structured in general terms. Different text or additional information may appear in PIWIS Tester II 9818.

1. Connect the Porsche System Tester to the vehicle and start the System Tester. Switch on ignition and press F12 to continue.
2. Select the vehicle type and start the PIDT.
3. Select the Air conditioning control unit in the overview.
4. Select Maintenance/repairs.
5. Select Control unit replacement and press F12 .
6. Read data and press F12 .
7. Press F8 to start reading out data.
8. Check the chassis number and press F12 .
9. Switch off ignition and replace control unit.
10. Switch on ignition. Select the Write data menu (procedure described above), press F12 and then press F8 to start installing the data that was read out.
11. The System Tester displays the message Data has been written. Press F12 to continue.
12. Read out the fault memory and erase it if necessary.
13. Check the function of the switch console during a test drive and read out the fault memory.
