General information

Symptom

When driving with high beam headlights, a bright yellow light spot appears on the road at about 30 to 70 metres in front of the vehicle.

Cause, date of introduction and remedial action

Cause

The auxiliary high beam headlights were pre-set using incorrect parameters.

Date of introduction

The auxiliary high beam headlights are set using the correct parameters from 12.11.2009 onwards.

Remedial action

If a complaint is received in relation to a vehicle that was manufactured before the specified date of introduction:
- Check the auxiliary high beam setting and depending on this.
- Correct the auxiliary high beam setting.

1. Check dipped beam headlights and adjust if necessary. -> 941515 Adjusting main headlights Adjustments
2. Also switch on auxiliary high beam headlights using the headlight flasher.
3. Check auxiliary high beam headlights and adjust if necessary.

NOTICE

Covering headlights that are switched on

- Danger of heating and chafing at the headlights

-> Do not cover headlights, e.g. with wing protector or film.
-> Switch off ignition.

Information

The number of turns for adjusting the auxiliary high beam setting is specified as a guideline. The settings must be checked again afterwards. It may be necessary to re-adjust the setting more precisely.

2. Adjust the auxiliary high beam setting.
2.1. To adjust the auxiliary high beam setting on the left side of the vehicle:
Turn both screws -1- on the underside of the housing clockwise by one turn using a socket wrench (external Torx E5) -arrows-.
2.2. To adjust the auxiliary high beam setting on the right side of the vehicle:
Turn both screws -1- on the underside of the housing clockwise by two turns using a socket wrench (external Torx E5) -arrows-.

3. Install main headlight. -> 941519 Removing and installing main headlights - section on "Installing" 941519 Removing and installing main headlights
4. Check dipped beam setting again. -> 941515 Adjusting main headlights Adjustments
5. Check auxiliary high beam setting again and repeat the adjustment process if necessary (Steps 1. - 4.)
