Preliminary work

1. Remove secondary-air pump (if installed) and bracket on cylinder bank 1 to 4. -> 266519 Removing and installing secondary-air pump with bracket Service and Repair
2. Detach torque support on valve cover only on cylinder bank 1 to 4. For details, see -> 103719 Removing and installing torque support 103719 Removing and installing torque support

Removing engine cover (design cover)

Information

- For easier access to the component, it may be necessary to use the tool flexible-head socket wrench 9824 in conjunction with the Torx Micro Bit 9824/2.

1. Remove fastening screws for the engine cover at the bar ignition modules -3-.
2. Lift up the torque support on the valve cover. Pull engine cover upwards and off the mounting points.
3. Remove design cover on throttle valve.
3.1. Pull cover off the throttle valve => Design cover on throttle valve.

Installing engine cover (design cover)

Information

The tightening specifications for the basic engine are stored centrally. -> 1001IN Tightening torques, tightening sequences, assembly overviews [1][2]Specifications. Tightening torques and assembly instructions for other assemblies (e.g. chassis, electrics, transmission or body) or for peripheral engine equipment can be found in the corresponding documents.

1. Lift up the torque support on the valve cover. Move engine cover into installation position and press it onto the ball joints on the valve cover.

2. Fit fastening screws for the engine cover at the bar ignition modules.
3. Fit design cover for throttle valve.
3.1. Place cover over the throttle valve and press it onto the Velcro strip => Design cover on throttle valve.

Subsequent work

1. Fit secondary-air pump (if installed) and bracket on cylinder bank 1 to 4. -> 266519 Removing and installing secondary-air pump with bracket Service and Repair
2. Secure torque support on valve cover on cylinder bank 1 to 4. -> 103719 Removing and installing torque support 103719 Removing and installing torque support
