WARNING
Incorrect handling of safety bolts
- Danger of injury
- Loss of torque
-> Always use new fastening screws and nuts following removal.
-> Observe specified tightening torques.
-> Carry out a visual inspection of all re-used parts.
Information
Only tighten the fastening screws on the door hinges hand-tight from the inside until the doors are set correctly.
Information
- Set gap dimensions on the lids, doors and covers, or accessories in accordance with the gap specifications.
- Given a clearance in the openings that is too great or too small, the movable body parts or the accessories must be centred accordingly.
- Ensure that the gaps do not run in a wedge-shaped fashion or do not narrow at local points.
- You can use star gauges for body gap dimensions NR.127-1 for this.
- The given values are guidelines which should be observed as far as possible.
- The guidelines apply to repair and assembly work.
Information
- The door hinge must be aligned after installing the door.
- Loosen fastening screws for door hinge at the door and fastening screws for door hinge at the B-pillar so that the threaded connections can be moved.
Installation position of rear door
1. Screw off one fastening nut -1- on both door hinges at the B-pillar.
Mounting point for door hinge
1.1. Check that the fastening bolts are centred in the bores. Loosen the other fastening nuts if necessary and centre the bolts.
1.2. Tighten the fastening nut -1-.
2. Loosen one fastening screw on both door hinges at the door.
Mounting point for door hinge on door side
2.1. Adjust the gaps by loosening the fastening screws on alternate sides and moving the door. -> 585115 Adjusting rear door - section on "Technical values"
2.2. Tighten fastening screws => Tightening torque: 33 Nm (24 ftlb.).
3. Loosen fastening nuts on B-pillar.
Adjusting door hinge
3.1. Adjust the gaps by loosening the fastening nuts on alternate sides and moving the door. -> 585115 Adjusting rear door - section on "Technical values"
3.2. Tighten fastening nuts => Tightening torque: 33 Nm (24 ftlb.).
4. Adjust the rear striker pin. -> 582619 Removing and installing striker pin - section on "Adjusting" Service and Repair
Subsequent work
1. Install lower part of B-pillar trim panel. -> 70671903 Removing and installing lower part of B-pillar trim panel - section on "Installing" 70671903 Removing and installing lower part of B-pillar trim panel
