Symptom

The bonnet (close to the windscreen wipers) can start to vibrate visibly when the vehicle is driven at high speeds.

Cause, date of introduction and remedial action
Cause
Tolerances of the plenum panel flange and lack of preload on the rear part of the seal can cause visible vibrations of the bonnet.

Remedial action
In the event of a complaint, replace the rear part ( -item 1- ) of the front lid seal with a new seal with a "reinforcing layer".

Replacing front lid seal

1. Remove rear part of front lid seal, see -> 553319 Removing and installing front lid seal - section on "Removing" 553319 Removing And Installing Front Lid Seal, Step "2. Remove rear profile seal."
2. Install new rear part of front lid seal, see -> 553319 Removing and installing front lid seal - section on "Installing" 553319 Removing And Installing Front Lid Seal, Step "1. Install rear profile seal."
