1. Release and unplug connector for camshaft hall sender. => Camshaft hall sender connector

2. Remove hose for positive crankcase ventilation. => Positive crankcase ventilation hose

3. Remove cover on solenoid valve for camshaft adjustment -A- and release and pull off connector lying underneath -B-.

4. Unscrew and remove fastening screws for engine retaining eyelet. => Engine retaining eyelet, cylinders 1 - 4

5. Release wiring harness for bar ignition modules from the bracket -A- and remove fastening screws on the ground straps underneath -B-.

6. Release and unplug connector for valve lift adjustment. => Connector for valve lift adjustment

7. Release cable for primary catalytic converter from the guide and pull it down. => Cable guide for primary catalytic converter line

8. Remove fastening screws -1 to 13- on the cylinder head cover.

9. Lift up cylinder head cover at a slant -A- , remove it towards the front -B- and set it down on a clean surface.

1. Remove B+ wiring harness and camshaft hall sender connector.

1.1. Remove fastening screw -A- on B+ wiring harness holder at the cylinder head cover.
1.2. Remove fastening screw -B- on B+ wiring harness holder at the engine retaining eyelet.
1.3. Lay the wiring harness aside.
1.4. Release and unplug connector for camshaft hall sender -C-.
2. Remove cover on solenoid valve for camshaft adjustment -A- and release and pull off connector lying underneath -B-.

3. Unscrew and remove fastening screws for engine retaining eyelet. => Engine retaining eyelet, cylinders 5 - 8

4. Release wiring harness for bar ignition modules from the bracket -A- and remove fastening screws on the ground straps underneath -B-.

5. Remove fastening screw on B+ line and lay the line aside. => Fastening screw on B+ line

6. Remove fastening screws -9- on the water tube at the cylinder head cover.

7. Remove fastening screw on wiring harness holder and remove the holder. => Holder for wiring harness

8. Remove fastening screws -1 to 13- on the cylinder head cover.

9. Lift up cylinder head cover at a slant -A- , remove it towards the front -B- and set it down on a clean surface.

1. Replace seals for cylinder head cover. For details, see -> 158055 Replacing seal for cylinder head cover Service and Repair
2. Guide cylinder head cover up and in at a slant -B- and lower it towards the front -A-.

3. Centre the cylinder head cover over the inserted bar ignition modules.
4. Screw in fastening screws on the cylinder head cover in the specified sequence -1 to 13-.

5. Insert the cable for the primary catalytic converter into the guide provided for it. => Cable guide for primary catalytic converter line

6. Plug in connector for valve lift adjustment. => Connector for valve lift adjustment

7. Fit ground straps -B- and guide wiring harness for bar ignition modules into the bracket -A-.

5. Fit holder for wiring harness and screw in fastening screw. => Holder for wiring harness

6. Fit fastening screws -9- for the water tube at the cylinder head cover. => Tightening torque: 4 Nm (3 ftlb.) and => Torque angle: 90°
