Technical values





Preliminary work

1. Remove dashboard. -> 701819 Removing and installing dashboard - section on "Removing" 701819 Removing and installing dashboard
2. Remove front air guide at the centre tunnel. -> 853419 Removing and installing air guide - section on "Removing" 853419 Removing and installing air guide
3. Remove combination sensor. -> 456155 Replacing combination sensor - section on "Removing" Service and Repair

5. Remove the steering column. -> 481519 Removing and installing steering column - section on "Removing" 481519 Removing and installing steering column

Removing dashboard support





Installation position

1. Remove bracket for fuse box at the left and right.
Swivel the holder -1- out of the guide -arrow A-.
Pull guide pins -2- out of the guide -arrow B-.

2. Guide electric connections through the insulating mat.
3. Place the insulating mat up over the dashboard support and secure it.
4. Unscrew and remove fastening screws -1- on the cable duct at the driver's side.

5. Unscrew and remove fastening screws -1- on the cable duct at the passenger's side.

6. Unscrew and remove fastening screws -1- on the cable duct at the driver's side from the footwell.

7. Unclip retaining clips -1- on the cable duct -arrow A-.

8. Remove cable duct from the bracket -arrow B-.
9. Press cable duct over the steering column out of the guide -arrow-.

Information

Due to the large number of cable attachments, not all cable attachments can be described and illustrated.

10. Unclip the wire harness along the dashboard support -arrow-.

11. Cut tie-wraps used to secure the wire harness to the dashboard support.
12. Screw off fastening nut -1- and remove the ground cable.

13. Screw off fastening nut -1- at the passenger's side and remove the ground cable.

14. Pull sound absorber at the window frame towards the passenger compartment -arrow-.

15. Unscrew and remove fastening screws -1-.
16. Unscrew fastening screws -1 and 2- on the centre tunnel holder and remove the holder.

17. Unscrew fastening nuts -1- on heating/fresh-air unit.

18. Mark the position of the fastening screws at the left and right.
Mark the position of the fastening screws at the left and right -1- before removal (using a felt-tip pen around the washer -2- ).

19. Unscrew fastening screws -1- at the left and right.
20. Disconnect dashboard support -1- from the wire harness -2-.

21. Guide the dashboard support -1- out of the wire harness and remove it at the driver's side -arrow A-.

Installing dashboard support

1. Move dashboard support -1- into the passenger compartment from the driver's seat -arrow A- and guide it into the wire harness -2-.

2. Screw in fastening screws -1- at the left and right, but do not tighten yet.

3. Align and tighten fastening screws -1- according to markings -2-. => Tightening torque: 23 Nm (17 ftlb.)+/-2 Nm (+/-1.5 ftlb.)

4. Pull sound absorber at the window frame towards the passenger compartment -arrow- and screw in fastening screws -1-.

5. Tighten fastening screws -1- on the window frame. => Tightening torque: 23 Nm (17 ftlb.)+/-2 Nm (+/-1.5 ftlb.)

6. Screw in fastening nuts -1- on the heating/fresh-air unit.=> Tightening torque: 8.0 Nm (6 ftlb.)

7. Screw holder onto the centre tunnel with fastening screws -1-. => Tightening torque: 23 Nm (17 ftlb.)+/-2 Nm (+/-1.5 ftlb.)

8. Screw holder onto the dashboard support with fastening screws -2-. => Tightening torque: 4.6 Nm (3.5 ftlb.)
9. Connect ground cable to ground pin.
10. Screw fastening nut -1- onto the ground pin at the driver's side. => Tightening torque: 8.4 Nm (6 ftlb.)

11. Screw fastening nut -1- onto the ground pin at the passenger's side. => Tightening torque: 8.4 Nm (6 ftlb.)

12. Insert retaining clips for cable duct -1- into the bracket -arrow A-.

13. Clip in retaining clips -1- ( -arrow B- ).
14. Press cable duct over the steering column into the guide.

15. Clip in wire harness along the dashboard support -arrow-.

16. Screw in fastening screws -1- on the cable duct at the driver's side.=> Tightening torque: 3.2 Nm (2 ftlb.)

17. Screw in fastening screws -1- on the cable duct at the passenger's side.

18. Fit tie-wraps if necessary in order to secure the wire harness to the dashboard support.
19. Lower the insulating mat.
20. Guide electric connections through the insulating mat.
21. Install bracket for fuse box at the left and right.
Swivel the holder -1- into place -arrow B-.
Insert guide pins -2- into the guides -arrow A-.

1. Install combination sensor. -> 456155 Replacing combination sensor - section on "Installing" Service and Repair
