Ignition Coil: Service and Repair
Removing And Installing Bar Ignition Modules
Preliminary work
1. Switch ignition off and remove ignition key
2. Remove design cover on bar ignition modules on both sides.
Removing bar ignition modules
INFORMATION:
- The aluminium screws on the bar ignition modules are difficult to reach close to cylinders 4 and 8. Shorten the tool you are using as required.
- The tank vent lines and low-pressure and vacuum lines can be unclipped close to the torque support and cylinder 4 (see illustration) -4-.
1. Remove electric plug connection for oxygen sensors in front of cylinder 8. Loosen cable plug from the holder. -> Pulling off connector
2. Release and pull off cable plugs -> Cable plugs for bar ignition modules. Remove screws from bar ignition modules and replace them (aluminium screws). -> Fastening screw on bar ignition module
3. Remove bar ignition modules. -> Bar ignition module
3.1. Remove the bar ignition module for cylinder 3 by turning it under the torque support.
3.2. Remove the bar ignition module for cylinder 4 by turning it under the lines.
3.3. Remove the bar ignition module for cylinder 8 by turning it past the B+ line.
Installing bar ignition modules
INFORMATION: The tightening specifications for the basic engine are stored centrally.
1. Fit aluminium screws on the bar ignition modules (use new aluminium screws) -> Fastening screws on bar ignition modules. Fit cable plugs. -> Cable plugs for bar ignition modules
2. Follow the instructions in reverse order for removal.
Subsequent work
1. Re-fit design cover for bar ignition modules.
