WM 613049 Eliminating noise symptoms - Reworking convertible top frame

General information

Symptoms

Creaking/rattling noises from around the convertible top frame.

Causes and remedial action

Creaking/rattling noises can be heard while driving due to tolerances between roof frame 1, roof frame 2 and roof frame 3.

In the event of a complaint, this problem must be remedied by greasing or replacing the bearing sleeves.

Reworking convertible top frame

1. Remedial action 1
Only for vehicles with white bearing sleeves.
1.1. Switch on ignition.
1.2. Open the convertible top to service position.
1.3. Switch off ignition and remove key.
1.4. Grease bearing sleeves for roof frame 1 to roof frame 2 with -Krytox-.





Greasing bearing sleeves

1.5. Grease bearing sleeves for roof frame 2 to roof frame 3 with -Krytox-.
1.6. Move convertible top back to its original position.
2. Remedial action 2
If customers still complain of noises even after carrying out remedial action 1, the bearing sleeves must be replaced.
