Preliminary work

Information

The drive shaft should only be loosened at the wheel bearing housing if the wheel bearing or wheel bearing housing needs to be replaced.

Loosen axle nut (vehicle on ground and brakes operated by 2nd fitter).

1. If necessary (if the wheel bearing or wheel bearing housing was replaced), loosen the drive shaft at the wheel bearing housing (loosen axle nut).
2. Raise the vehicle -> 400000 Lifting the vehicle.
3. Remove wheel -> 440519 Removing and installing wheel.

Subsequent work

1. Fit wheel -> 440519 Removing and installing wheel.
2. Tighten axle nut (drive shaft to wheel bearing housing) if it was removed (vehicle lowered, brakes operated by 2nd fitter).
=> Tightening torque: 460 Nm (340 ftlb.)
3. Check wheel alignment values and adjust if necessary. -> 449503 Performing front and rear suspension alignment.
