Tool for cooling system
Test equipment for antifreeze test:
- 1. Commercially available antifreeze testers.
- 2. Antifreeze and battery acid tester SUN Duo-Check WE 1036.
- 3. Antifreeze and battery acid tester FT 2030 WE 1037.
Checking coolant antifreeze content and fluid level
Information
- The coolant filled in at the factory is intended for lifetime cooling and, thus, need not be changed.

Hot fluid
- Danger of scalding
-> Let the fluid cool down.
-> Wear personal protective gear.
1. Check antifreeze content.
1.1. Unscrew cap -1- on the coolant expansion tank.

1.2. Check antifreeze content using a commercially available antifreeze tester.
1.3. If it is below -35 °C , correct the antifreeze content by increasing the proportion of pure coolant accordingly.

WARNING
Caustic fluids
- Danger of chemical burns
-> Avoid contact with caustic fluid.
-> Wear personal protective gear.
-> Ensure that there is good ventilation.
-> If you do come into contact, wash off immediately with plenty of warm water and contact a doctor if necessary.
Information
- Only use Genuine Porsche coolant.
- Never mix coolant with other coolants.
2. Check engine coolant level and correct it if necessary.
2.1. The engine coolant level must be between the Min and Max markings. If this is not the case, either drain off or top up coolant.
Checking the cooling system for leaks

1. Check the cooling system for leaks.
1.1. Connect a cooling system tester cooling system tester WE 1069 to the coolant expansion tank.

1.2. Produce a test pressure of 1.8 bar absolute using a pump.
1.3. Visually check all hose and line connections for leaks.
2. Carry out the required repair work to seal any leaks you find.
3. Carefully open the adapter on the tester - the system is pressurised.
Checking lid (on reservoir)
Information
The lid has a two-stage design and as a result, two test steps are required.
1. Screw on the lid using the adapter DS 22K (aluminium).
1.1. Then, connect it to tester for cooling system WE 1069 and hose adapter FZ 100K.
Test step for stage 1:
2. Build up overpressure.
2.1. The first stage opens at an overpressure of approx. 1.3 bar. The pressure then slowly decreases again and the valve closes at 1.0 bar. If the pressure decreases further, replace the lid.
Test step for stage 2 if the minimum pressure in stage 1 is maintained:
3. Apply overpressure to the valve of step 1 by pumping rapidly. The valve of step 2 must open at an overpressure of approx 1.8 bar.
3.1. If the valve does not open, replace the lid.
Cleaning the cooling air guides
1. Check the cooling air ducts and radiator for foreign bodies, e.g. leaves.
1.1. If necessary, clean the cooling air ducts and radiator surfaces through the openings in the front apron using a vacuum cleaner and nozzle.
Vacuum cleaner nozzle Nr.160 should be used.

NOTICE
Radiator surface (vanes) dirty/soiled
- Engine overheating due to lack of cooling performance
- Risk of damage to radiator surface
-> Clean radiator surface regularly.
-> Do not use a high-pressure steam cleaner.
2. Never use a high-pressure steam cleaner.
2.1. High-pressure steam cleaners can cause additional particles of dirt to attach to the radiator surfaces and the engine can overheat due to reduced cooling performance.
