Information
- The rear window can be fitted in the vehicle when the convertible top covering is installed or removed.
- The rear window should always be fitted into the convertible top covering first when replacing the convertible top covering.
1. Pull fleece tape -1- off the rear window frame -2- in the radius area -arrows-.

2. Pull felt tape -1- off the lower edge of the rear window frame -2- (Porsche logo) -arrows-.

3. Remove any traces of adhesive and clean bonding surfaces.
4. Disconnect electric plug connection.

4.1. Disconnect electric plug connection -1, 2, 3- for the heated rear window at the left and right -arrows-.
5. Detach connection and tension strap.

5.1. Disengage connection for the hood covering -1- at the left and right -arrow A-.
5.2. Disengage tension strap -2- from the rear window frame -3 - at the left and right -arrow B-.
6. Remove metal clips.

6.1. Insert a plastic wedge under the metal clip -1- ( -arrow A- ) and lift it.
6.2. Press out the metal clip -1- using a screwdriver -arrow B-.
7. Remove rear window.

7.1. Remove the rear window -1- from the hood covering -2- ( -arrows- ).
Installing rear window
Information
Water can leak in if the rear window is not installed correctly. Metal clips are only intended to be used once and must always be replaced following removal. Only fit metal clips using assembly pliers 9697.

- Two persons are needed to insert and adjust the rear window.
- Ensure that the markings -A, B- correspond at the top and bottom.
1. Install the rear window.

1.1. Position rear window -1- and aluminium frame -2- on the hood covering -3-.
1.2. The aluminium frame -2- and the rear window -1- are initially held on the hood covering -3- with vice-grip wrenches at the left and right.
1.3. Check that the surround -4- on the hood covering is showing evenly all the way round -arrows- and correct if necessary.
2. Push the metal clips onto the aluminium frame.

2.1. Push new metal clips -1- onto the frame cutouts -X- of the rear window all the way around using circlip pliers -arrow-. => 648619 Removing and installing rear window - section on "Information"
Information
- Ensure that the clearance cuts of the headliner -X- at the left and right are positioned on the electric connection for the rear window.
3. Install hood inner lining.

3.1. Press in the connection seal -1- for the hood inner lining -2- between the rear window and frame -arrow-.
4. Install metal clips.

4.1. Tap the metal clips -1- using a plastic hammer until the metal clips latch into the frame cutouts -arrow-.

Only when replacing hood covering.
5. Install hood covering. => 612819 Removing and installing hood covering - section on "Installing"
6. Attach connection and tension strap.

6.1. Engage tension strap -2- in the frame of the rear window.
6.2. Lay the connection -1- under the hood strips -3- and over the corner bow -4-.
6.3. Attach connection -1-.
7. Plug in electric plug connection.

7.1. Plug in electric plug connection -1, 2, 3- ( -arrows- ).
8. Stick on fleece tape -1- so that it is flush with the rear window frame -2- in the radius area -arrows-.

9. Stick felt tape -1- on the lower edge of the rear window frame -2- (Porsche logo) so that it is flush with the inner edge and fold it over -arrows-.

Information
Use of the circlip pliers
1. Insert metal clips into the circlip pliers.

1.1. Unscrew the knurled screw -1- of the circlip pliers in -direction of arrow-.
1.2. Insert metal clip -2- into the U-profile of the lower jaw -A- in -direction of arrow-. Insert the upper claw -X- into the metal clip in -direction of arrow- at the same time.
1.3. Insert upper adjusting claw -Y- into the metal clip in -direction of arrow-. Tighten knurled screw -1-.
2. Push metal clips onto the aluminium frame and remove circlip pliers from the metal clip.

2.1. Push the metal clips -2- onto the aluminium frame.
2.2. Unscrew knurled screws -1- and pull upper adjusting claw -Y- to the right in -direction of arrow-.
2.3. Push circlip pliers forward in -direction of arrow- and remove from the U-profile of the lower jaw -A-.
2.4. Pull the circlip pliers to the left in -direction of arrow- and with the upper claw -X- remove from the metal clip -2-.
Subsequent work
1. Check function of heated rear window. => 648601 Checking function of heated rear window
2. Completely install hood inner lining. => 610919 Removing and installing hood inner lining - section on "Installing"
