WM 900349 Eliminating noise symptoms - Reworking instrument cluster trim (noise from around the instrument cluster/SY1910)

Symptom

Creaking/crackling noises from around the instrument cluster.

Causes and remedial action

Cause

Component tolerances between the trim (Fig. 1 -arrow- ) and instrument cluster.

Remedial action

During vehicle production, strips of tricot tape have been affixed at three positions on the trim in order to eliminate noises since mid-January 2010 (Fig. 2 -arrows- ).

In the event of a complaint in relation to vehicles manufactured before the specified date of introduction , affix the strips of tricot tape to the trim. For details of how to do this, see => 900300 Spare parts requirements for (instrument cluster) trim (53/10).
