Preliminary work
1. Remove both cover flaps of cowl panel cover. -> 664419 Removing and installing cowl panel cover - section on "Removing" Service and Repair
2. Unscrew fastening screws -1- and remove relay box lid.
Removing relay box lid
Technical values
Gap dimensions of front lid
=> Gap dimension: 4 mm+/-1 mm
Front apron to front lid
=> Gap dimension: 2 mm+/-1 mm
Front apron to front lid
=> Gap dimension: 4 mm+/-1 mm
Lid to wing
=> Gap dimension: 1 mm+/-0.5 mm

Adjusting front lid gap dimensions
Information
- Set gap dimensions on cover and accessories in accordance with the gap specifications.
- Given a clearance in the opening that is too large or too small, the movable body or the accessories must be centred accordingly.
- Ensure that the gaps do not run in a wedge-shaped fashion or do not narrow at local points.
- The given values are guidelines which should be observed as far as possible.
- The guidelines apply to repair and assembly work.
- Use star gauges to measure the gap dimensions. Star gauges for body gap dimensions NR.127-1

Checking front lid lock
Function test on front lid lock
Information
The lid lock does not have an emergency release.
When working close to the front apron and on the various parts of the lock, carry out the following function test before closing the lid:
1. Check that the release cable is clipped fully into the brackets provided.
2. Lock the lower part of the lid lock with a screwdriver.
3. Release the lid lock using the lever in the passenger compartment.
4. Perform a visual inspection to check that the lock releases correctly.
Subsequent work
1. Position relay box lid.

2. Tighten fastening screws -1- on the relay box lid.
