Preliminary work

1. Detach the headliner from behind as far as the B-pillar. -> 708419 Removing and installing headliner - section on "Removing" Service and Repair
2. Remove rear lid-hinge cover. -> 709119 Removing and installing lid-hinge cover - section on "Removing"

Removing rear lid hinge

Information

Some of the repair illustrations show only one side of the vehicle. Naturally, some steps also have to be performed on the opposite side of the vehicle as well. These must be carried out as a mirror image of the steps shown.

1. Two people are needed to replace the rear lid hinges.
1.1. One person to support the rear lid.
1.2. The second person to replace the hinges.
2. Unscrew screws on the rear lid hinge.

3. Unscrew the screw -1- on the rear lid hinge.
4. Guide the hinge out through the hinge opening in the bodyshell.

Installing rear lid hinge

Information

1. Tighten fastening screw -1- on the hinge to => Tightening torque: 23 Nm (17 ftlb.).

2. Tighten fastening screws for rear lid to => Tightening torque: 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.).

Subsequent work for removing and installing rear lid hinge

1. Adjust the rear lid. -> 559015 Adjusting rear lid - section on "Adjusting" Adjustments
2. Secure the headliner. -> 708419 Removing and installing headliner - section on "Installing" Service and Repair
3. Install lid-hinge cover. -> 709119 Removing and installing lid-hinge cover - section on "Installing"
