Technical values





Preliminary work

1. Remove the front seat. -> 720119 Removing and installing front seat - section on "Removing" 720119 Removing and Installing Front Seat
2. Remove front seat trim without storage tray. -> 721619 Removing and installing front seat trim - section on "Removing" 721619 Removing and installing front seat trim
3. Disconnect pressure line (red) under the seat. -> 723819 Removing and installing control valve for air cushion - section on "Removing" 723819 Removing and installing control valve for air cushion
4. Disconnect wire harness for side airbag at the underside of the seat. -> 696319 Removing and installing side airbag - section on "Removing" 696319 Removing and Installing Side Airbag
5. On vehicles with heated seats: Unplug electric plug connection for seat heating for backrest and disconnect wire harness. -> 741719 Removing and installing padding for front backrest - section on "Removing" 741719 Removing and Installing Padding For Front Backrest

Removing front backrest frame

1. Release two electric plug connections under the seat -a- and pull them off -A-.

2. Press in expansion rivet pin -1- and pull out the expansion rivet.





Loosening cover for rear seat

3. Detach cover for rear seat -2- ( -A- ).
4. Unscrew fastening screws -3- and pull the bracket -4- down out of the catches -B-.

A second mechanic is required.
5. First mechanic: Unscrew two fastening screws -1- from the backrest frame on both sides.





Removing backrest frame

6. Second mechanic: Pull electric lines through between the seat frame and seat padding.

Installing front backrest frame

A second mechanic is required.
1. First mechanic: Fit backrest frame.
1.1. Fit the backrest frame on the seat frame.
1.2. Pull electric lines through between the seat frame and seat padding.
2. Second mechanic: Tighten two fastening screws -1- on both sides of the backrest frame to => Tightening torque: 33 Nm (24 ftlb.).





Installing backrest frame

3. Engage the bracket -6- from below -J-.

4. Tighten fastening screws -5- to => Tightening torque: 7.5 Nm (5.5 ftlb.).

Information

The expansion rivets must be replaced during installation and must not be re-used.

5. Fit expansion rivet -7-.





Securing cover at the rear

6. Attach cover at the rear -8- ( -K- ).
7. Plug in two electric plug connections -A- until the connector engages securely.

Subsequent work

1. Install padding for front backrest. -> 741919 Removing and installing cover for front backrest - section on "Installing" 741919 Removing and installing cover for front backrest
2. Secure pressure line (red) under the seat. -> 723819 Removing and installing control valve for air cushion - section on "Installing" 723819 Removing and installing control valve for air cushion
3. Secure wire harness for side airbag. -> 696319 Removing and installing side airbag - section on "Installing" 696319 Removing and Installing Side Airbag
