Removing exhaust system

CAUTION

Hot components

-> Get someone to help if necessary.

1. Loosen fastening nuts -8- on the exhaust clamp (clamping sleeve) -3- between the catalytic converter and exhaust system. Slide exhaust clamps onto the exhaust system. The exhaust clamps must not be re-used.

2. Get another person to help secure the exhaust system.
3. Unscrew fastening screw -6- on centre bracket -4-.

Unscrew four fastening screws -7- from the brackets on the rear silencer -5-.

4. Get another person to help you remove the exhaust system.

Installing exhaust system

Information

Refer to the relevant repair instructions for tightening torques regarding parts belonging to the relevant body, transmission, chassis, electrical component groups.

1. Push new exhaust clamps (clamping sleeves) -3- onto the exhaust pipes. The threaded joint must be pointing downwards.

2. Get another person to help secure the exhaust system.
3. Position the exhaust system under the vehicle. Do not install too tightly.
4. Tighten four fastening screws on the rear silencer brackets to => Tightening torque: 23 Nm (17 ftlb.).

5. Tighten fastening screw on centre bracket to => Tightening torque: 23 Nm (17 ftlb.).

6. The threaded joint on the exhaust clamps must be pointing downwards. Adjust to maximum inclination and ensure that assembly length of both exhaust pipes is the same. => Installation position of exhaust clamp => Adjustment value: 10° => Tightening torque: 33 Nm (24 ftlb.)
