Adjusting locking cable

1. Remove cover under selector knob.

2. Loosen fastening screw for cable adjustment.

3. Move selector lever to position P. The lever on the transmission must be at the highest position.

Information

When tightening, the fastening screw must not be pushed in the longitudinal direction.

4. Tighten fastening screw for cable adjustment.

Function test

1. Move selector lever from position P to D and from position D to M and back again several times.
2. Check that the parking lock is disengaged.
2.1. Insert ignition key into the ignition lock.
2.2. Move selector lever to position P. "P" appears in the instrument cluster.
2.3. Actuate the operating brake.
2.4. Start the engine.
2.5. Move selector lever to position D. "D" appears in the instrument cluster.
2.6. Release the operating brake. If the vehicle moves forward, the test is complete. Otherwise, all connection parts must be checked again.
3. Check that the parking lock is engaged (engine running).
3.1. Insert ignition key into the ignition lock.
3.2. Move selector lever to position P. "P" appears in the instrument cluster.
3.3. Actuate the operating brake.
3.4. Start the engine.
3.5. Release the operating brake. The vehicle must not move. Otherwise, the entire system must be checked.
3.6. Switch off engine.
4. Check that the parking lock is engaged (blocking effect).
4.1. Insert ignition key into the ignition lock.
4.2. Move selector lever to position P. "P" appears in the instrument cluster.
4.3. Move selector lever to position N. "N" appears in the instrument cluster.
4.4. Get another person to help you to push the vehicle for a distance of at least one metre. It must be possible to move the vehicle. Otherwise, the entire system must be checked.
4.5. Actuate the operating brake.
4.6. Move selector lever to position P. "P" appears in the instrument cluster.
4.7. Get another person to help you to push the vehicle. The vehicle must not move (a max. movement of 150 mm is acceptable). Otherwise, the entire system must be checked.

Subsequent work for locking cable

2. Install underbody panelling. -> 519219 Removing and installing cover for front underbody - section on "Installing" 519219 Removing and installing Cover For Front Underbody
