Rear Subframe Mount: Service and Repair
WM 420855 Bearings for rear axle
Tools
Technical values
Preliminary work
1. Switch off the levelling system. -> 4X00IN Lifting the vehicle
On vehicles with Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC), the system is fully depressurised when the engine is not running.
2. Lift the vehicle. -> 4X00IN Lifting the vehicle
3. For front rear-axle chassis subframe bearings: Remove stone guard.
4. Remove rear silencer. -> 263355 Replacing rear silencer

NOTICE
Incorrect line routing
- Risk of damage to lines and hoses
- Malfunction and fault memory entry on control unit
-> Avoid small bending radii when routing lines.
-> File down edges and burrs in the routing area or mask them with adhesive tape.
-> Maintain a sufficient distance from components exposed to high temperatures while driving.
For vehicles with PDCC (Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control)
CAUTION
Heavy components
- Risk of squashing
-> Wear personal protective gear.
-> Get someone to help if necessary.
- The vehicle only moves if the engine is running.
1. Move the gear support => Supporting chassis subframe (ORS anti-roll bar shown) under the centre of the chassis subframe and lift it carefully using a suitable base (e.g. hard rubber support).

2. For vehicles with PDCC: Unclip the lines from the holders on the body so that there is sufficient clearance at the lines for lowering the chassis subframe.
Information
Front rear-axle bearings: The cardan shaft must not touch the mounting face when lowering the suspension subframe! -Arrow-

3. Loosen the threaded joint on the bearing and carefully lower the gear support until there is sufficient clearance for using the tool.
4. Press out chassis subframe bearing.

Heavy components
- Risk of squashing
-> Wear personal protective gear.
-> Get someone to help if necessary.
Information
Hold the hydraulic cylinder VAS 6178 tightly while pressing it out.
5. Attach the tools as shown in the illustration and press out the bearing.

Information
When inserting the bearing, make sure that the rubber cushion is pointing in the direction of travel in the transverse direction.
6. Check the chassis subframe installation position (rubber cushion -arrows- ).

7. To avoid damaging the bearing, the maximum => Pressure: 60 kN+/-5 kN must not be exceeded at the stop (60 KN = 200 bar). This conversion applies only to the hydraulic cylinder VAS 6178. The conversion depends on the diameter of the cylinder in question. Assembly fixture T10301 Porsche supplement set T10301/20
Information
The nut -2- must be locked in the process with the contact surface on the press-in plate -7- ! The press-in plate -7- must be positioned perfectly on the bearing sleeve on the chassis subframe. (Get another worker to help if necessary!) This prevents the bearing from being drawn in at an incorrect angle.
Pressing in RA bearing
8. Connect the tools together as shown in the illustration. Press the bearing in carefully.
Information
Observe correct tightening torques.
9. Carefully lift the chassis subframe until the installation position is reached. Fit the threaded joint on the chassis subframe bearing.
10. For vehicles with PDCC: Clip the lines into the holders on the body. -> 4303AW Safety requirements for Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC)
Subsequent work
1. Fit the rear silencer. -> 263355 Replacing rear silencer
2. For front RA chassis subframe bearings: Fit stone guard.
3. Check the chassis settings and make adjustments if necessary. -> 449503 Suspension alignment, complete
