- Engine temperature > 40 °C (°F)
- Ambient temperature > 4 °C (°F)
- Ambient pressure > 730 hPa (= Location below approx. 2,400 ... 2700 mm)

- Vehicle speed = 0 km/h
- Selector-lever position P or N , or no gear engaged
- Steering wheel centre position
- Air-conditioning system switched off
- All models: Load switched off
- All models: Oxygen sensor(s) ready for operation
- none of the following faults stored: Oxygen sensor(s), Final stage Tank vent

Possible fault causes
- Tank vent (tank vent valve) Faulty (stuck open or Closed Closed)
- Tank vent (tank vent valve) not installed or installed incorrectly
- Lead between Charcoal canister and Tank vent (tank vent valve) leaks / trapped / Blocked
- Purge-air line between Tank vent (tank vent valve) and Intake pipe leaks / trapped / Blocked
