Converter Jumper Clutch
P18110Diagnostic information - Tiptronic
Converter jumper clutch
NOTE:
Friction and windage losses (slippage) in the torque converter lockup clutch are monitored.
- Slippage is calculated using the engine speed and engine torque CAN signals, and the turbine speed of the torque converter lockup clutch.
Diagnostic conditions
The control unit must be active in order to test internal function sequences and diagnosable inputs/outputs.
In the event of a fault, check whether the fault is permanently >present<. To perform the check, erase the fault memory, meet the diagnostic conditions and read out the fault memory again.
NOTE:
The ATF fluid level in the transmission must be OK and the specified ATF fluid must be used.
The ATF filter and cooler must not be blocked.
- Voltage greater than 6.5 V
- Ignition on
- Tiptronic control unit, internal function test
- Temperature of ATF fluid > 20 (68 °F)
- Selector lever in position [D]
- No faults (short circuit to ground) stored for shift solenoid valve UK (modulation pressure)
- No faults stored for input shaft (turbine) speed sensor
- No implausible engine speed CAN signal
- No CAN faults
- No DME faults
- Slip: Engine speed - input shaft (turbine) > 100 rpm
- Engine speed < 4000 rpm
Possible fault causes
- [Mechanical fault], torque converter lockup clutch failure
Fault effects
- Check Engine warning light in instrument cluster >>ON<<
- No check/slip check on converter jumper clutch
