Preliminary work

1. Remove front cover (engine compartment).
2. Remove front wheel housing liner. -> 505619 Removing and installing front wheel housing liner - section on "Removing" Service and Repair
3. Remove front wheel cover.
4. Remove front apron.
5. Remove wing trim panel.
6. For the right wing: Remove reservoir for windscreen washer system.
7. For the left wing: Remove the heater if vehicle is fitted with auxiliary heater.

Technical values

Gap dimensions of front wing

-> Gap dimension: 4 mm+/-1 mm

Lid to wing
-> Gap dimension: 1 mm+/-0.5 mm

Lid to wing
-> Gap dimension: 3.7 mm+/-0.5 mm

Wing to door
-> Gap dimension: 0 mm+1 mm

Wing to door
-> Gap dimension: 2.4 mm+/-1 mm

Wing to A-pillar
-> Gap dimension: 1 mm+/-1 mm

Wing to A-pillar
-> Gap dimension: 2.3 mm+/-1 mm

Wing trim panel to door entry guard
-> Gap dimension: 1.6 mm+/-0.7 mm

Removing wing

Removing the wing

Information

Some of the repair illustrations show only one side of the vehicle. Naturally, some steps also have to be performed on the opposite side of the vehicle as well. These must be carried out as a mirror image of the steps shown.

1. Unclip fixing clips -1- on electric plug connections in a downward direction.

2. Detach door entry guard at the front.
3. Press door entry guard down and unscrew fastening screws for the door sill -2-.

4. Unscrew fastening screws for the A-pillar -3-.
5. Unscrew fastening screws on the mounting plate -4-.
6. Unscrew fastening screws on the wing mounting -5-.
7. Carefully remove the wing.

Installing wing

Installing wing

1. Before installing the wing, spray sealant approx. 3 mm thick onto the connection flange shown.

2. Carefully position the wing and screw in all screws in reverse order to removal.

3. Adjust gap dimensions with respect to the door and lid. -> 505519 Removing and installing wing - section on "Technical values"
4. Tighten fastening screws for the door sill -2- to -> Tightening torque: 8 Nm (6 ftlb.)+/-1 Nm (+/-0.5 ftlb.).
5. Tighten fastening screws for the A-pillar -3- to -> Tightening torque: 8 Nm (6 ftlb.)+/-1 Nm (+/-0.5 ftlb.).
6. Tighten fastening screws on the mounting plate -4- to -> Tightening torque: 8 Nm (6 ftlb.)+/-1 Nm (+/-0.5 ftlb.).
7. Tighten fastening screws on the wing mounting -5- to -> Tightening torque: 14 Nm (10.5 ftlb.)+/-1 Nm (+/-0.5 ftlb.).

Subsequent work

Subsequent work

1. For the left wing: Install the heater if vehicle is fitted with auxiliary heater.
2. For the right wing: Install reservoir for windscreen washer system.
3. Install wing trim panel.
4. Install front apron.
5. Install front wheel cover.
6. Install front wheel housing liner. -> 505619 Removing and installing front wheel housing liner - section on "Installing" Service and Repair
7. Install front cover (engine compartment).
