Concerns: Brake light switch

Information:

Possible replacement of perfectly functioning components when complaint "Brake light stays on" is received/fault code 4340 in PSM control unit.

Action Required:
If the following complaints are received or if the following warnings are displayed (possible individually or together):

^ Brake light stays on,

^ warning message "PSM failure" activated in the instrument cluster,

^ warning message "Start/stop operation deactivated" activated in the instrument cluster or

^ the fault code 4340 is entered in the PSM control unit

^ only for 911 Carrera/Boxster (9x1) vehicles: the fault code P0571 is entered in the DME control unit

--> Before performing any other work (e.g. on the pedal bearing block or brake light switch holder):

^ The adjustment value of the brake light switch must be checked,

^ the actual value must be documented in the related PIWIS job (PQIS) and

^ then set according to specifications if necessary, see --> 943619 Removing and installing brake light
switch, section on "Adjusting" --> also document the nominal value that is set in the related PIWIS job (PQIS).
