Temperature Sensor Monitoring

5. Temperature Sensor Monitoring

The battery system contains 10 temperature sensors. Eight temperature sensors are located in the battery pack closed to a battery cell (Th1...Th8). One sensors is located in the battery air duct inlet and one sensor is located in the battery air duct outlet.

5.1 Battery temperature sensor "out of range" (P0AAE, P0AAF, P0AB3, P0AB4, P0A9D, P0A9E,P0AC7, P0AC8, P0ACC, P0ACD, P0AEA, P0AEB,P0BC4, P0BC5, P0C35, P0C36, P0C7E, P0C7F, P0C83, P0C84)

5.1.1 Monitoring strategy
This monitoring strategy will check if a single sensor value (Th1...Th8, inlet or outlet) exceeds an upper or lower temperature threshold (see Figure 5-1).

5.2 Battery temperature sensor (Th1....Th8) "rationality" (P0A9C, P0AC6, P0ACB, P0AE9, P0BC3, P0C34, P0C7D, P0C82)

5.2.1 Monitoring strategy
This monitoring strategy will check if a single sensor value (Th1....Th8) exceeds five or more times other temperature sensor upper or lower temperature threshold (see Figure 5-1).

5.2.2 Enable conditions

5.3 Battery inlet and outlet temperature sensor "rationality" (P0AAD, P0AB2)

5.3.1 Monitoring strategy
This monitoring strategy will check the rationality of the temperature values measured by the temperature sensors at air inlet and outlet by comparing the temperature values to the average temperature calculated from the eight temperature sensors inside the battery (Th1...Th8). An malfunction is detected if the difference between the average exceeds the threshold or if the difference between inlet and outlet temperature is larger than the threshold.

This monitoring strategy is only performed once at the beginning of HV_ON after a sufficient engine off time.
