FIGURE 1 - HOSE CLAMPS INSTALLED AT I.E.I. VACUUM SENSOR AND CANISTER PURGE LINE CONNECTIONS:
1. IGNITION SYSTEM
To improve hose connection and prevent any leaks that might affect vacuum advance operation, hose clamps have been added to the vacuum hoses that interconnect the I.E.I. vacuum sensor, canister purge line and throttle plate assembly on 136A models built after fabrication number 7210 (Fig. 1).
The new hose clamps should be installed on 136A models built prior to fabrication number 7210 during PDI operations or normal maintenance.
Hose Clamp Installation
1. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
2. Disconnect the air inlet hose from the air inlet tube. Move the hose aside for access to the I.E.I. sensor and canister purge line hose connections.
3. Remove the air inlet tube from the throttle plate assembly.
4. Disconnect the vacuum hoses at the I.E.I. sensor, canister purge line T-fitting and throttle plate assembly (Fig. 1).
5. Install hose clamps, P/N 77 03 083 051, on each of the hoses just disconnected and reconnect the hoses (Fig. 1). Tighten each of the five hose clamps securely.
6. Reinstall the air inlet tube and hose.
7. Connect the battery negative cable.

2. CLUTCH
If difficult clutch adjustment or incomplete disengagement is experienced on 136A models built prior to fabrication number 8365, check and correct pedal height and clutch cable bushing type as outlined in the following procedure.
PROCEDURE
1. Measure the variation in height between the clutch and brake pedals. When fully released, the clutch pedal should be at least one inch higher than the brake pedal.
a. If the clutch pedal is one inch or more higher than the brake pedal, proceed to step 3.
b. If the clutch pedal is less than one inch higher or is almost level with the brake pedal, proceed to step 2.
2. Remove the original clutch pedal and replace it with clutch pedal P/N 77 00 688 501. Refer to the M.R. 238 manual for procedures. Then proceed to step 3.
FIGURE 2 - CLUTCH CABLE BUSHING LOCATION:
3. Inspect the type of bushing installed on the clutch cable (Fig. 2).
a. If a metal bushing was installed on the cable, proceed to step 4.
b. If a plastic bushing was installed on the cable, adjust clutch free-play as described on page D-7 of the M.R. 238 manual and return the vehicle to the owner.
4. Remove the metal clutch cable bushing and replace it with the plastic bushing, P/N 77 00 671 254 (Fig. 2). Also replace the spacer, P/N 77 00 671 252 and washer, P/N 79 03 053 031 (Fig. 2).
5. Adjust clutch free-play as described on page D-7 of the M.R. 238 manual.
