Information

On some Fuego Turbo 136A models built prior to fabrication number 10801, the fuel injection relay and cold start injector wires may rub against the retaining clamps on the air intake tube and auxiliary air regulator hose. The clamps can cut through the insulation on these wires. The engine would fail to start or flood on hot restarts and the resulting short circuit might damage the fuel injection ECU.

Inspect the fuel injection relay and cold start injector wires during PDI operations or normal service. If necessary, properly secure the wires away from the clamps, using the procedures below.

Filing Instructions

File this I.S. Note at the back of the plastic binder supplied with your M.R. 238 manual.

PROCEDURE

1. Repair any damage to the wires.

2. Secure the fuel injection relay wires to the diagnostic connector harness with a plastic tie strap.

3. Install a 100 mm long protective sleeve around the cold start relay wires. Fabricate the protective sleeve from 5/8 I.D. heater hose or ribbed plastic tubing slit lengthwise for easy installation. Secure the sleeve in place with electrical tape after installation.
