NEW TOROUE CONVERTER SEAL

Information

A new torque converter seal has been introduced into production of MB1 automatic transaxles.

The new seal is rubber coated and does not require the application of any type of sealing compound to the outer surface prior to installation.

The new seal will be the only one supplied for service replacement use after existing stocks of the old seal are depleted. The part number for the new seal is 7703 087 135.



Removal/installation procedures for the new rubber coated seal remain the same as outlined on pages 53 and 70 of the T.A.M . . . manual, May 1984 Edition.

NOTE: Before installing the rubber coated seal, lubricate the seal outer surface and seal lip with transmission fluid. Also be sure to remove any nicks, burrs or sharp edges from the converter hub, the seal bore of tool B.Vi. 962, and the converter housing seal bore (see illustration). Use crocus cloth on the converter hub and emery cloth on the housing and installer tool bores.
