Subject: Jeep/Eagle Emissions Recall #8703 (83AMEMIS)-- CTS Jumper/Air Bleed Valve

Models: All 1983 Alliance Passenger Cars With Federal Engine (Not California)

The listed model cars may emit hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide in excess of the Federal Emissions Standards. To ensure compliance to the standards, an air bleed valve must be added to provide a leaner fuel/air mixture under certain driving conditions. A jumper harness, containing a thermal switch and resistor, must be installed in the coolant temperature sensor (CTS) circuit to modity computer operation.
