A/T - Bind Up In Reverse or 3rd Gear

PROBLEM: Bind up in reverse and/or 3rd gear

POSSIBLE CAUSE:
Improper installation of the E2 Bell Housing




The E2 Bell Housing is splined to the F2 Clutch Plates, which are applied in 2nd gear, and E2 Clutch Plates which are applied in 3rd and reverse gears.

When installed properly, all the F2 Clutch Plates will be engaged into a set of slots in the E2 Bell Housing, and all the E2 Clutch Plates will be engaged into the other set of slots in the E2 Bell Housing.

Neither set of clutches can be fixed with the other set in the E2 Bell Housing.

If any F2 Clutch Plate or any E2 Clutch Plate is mixed with the other set, or if the E2 Bell Housing is not fully engaged into both clutch packs, a bind-up in reverse and/or 3rd gears may result.
