Ride Height Adjustment

Fig. 1 Ride height specifications.:

Only the rear ride height can be adjusted on these vehicles. If front ride height cannot be brought within specifications by adjusting rear height, check for damaged or worn suspension components and replace as needed.
1. Adjust tire pressures to 35 psi, ensure vehicle is unloaded and that fuel tank is full. Tank must be full to obtain accurate ride height measurement.
2. Place unloaded vehicle on flat surface.
3. Measure distance between top center of each wheelwell and the floor, along the center line of the wheel.
4. Distances should be as shown in chart, Fig. 1, and left to right side variation should not exceed .315 inch (8 mm).
5. If ride height is not within specifications, adjust as follows:
a. Raise and support vehicle and remove torsion bar as outlined in ``Rear Suspension Section.''
b. Install fabricated suspension arm positioning tool in place of shock absorber, and adjust length of tool to 24.04 inches on all except GS and GTA models, 22.9 inches on GTA with green and orange color code, 22.6 inches on GTA with green and white color code, 23.1 inches on GS with green and yellow color code, or 22.8 inches on GS with white and orange color code. Color code consists of 2 paint marks on top of the suspension arm.
c. Reinstall torsion bar, then the shock absorber and recheck and record ride height.
d. If ride height is still not not within specifications, remove torsion bar and reinstall suspension positioning tool in place of shock absorber.
e. Increase or decrease length of positioning tool in 3 mm increments to adjust ride height. To increase rear ride height by .12 inch, increase length of tool by 3 mm. To decrease rear ride height by .12 inch, decrease length of tool by 3 mm.
f. Install torsion bar, then remove positioning tool and install shock absorber and check adjustment.
g. Repeat procedure, as needed, until ride height is within specifications.
6. Check headlight aim and adjust as necessary.
