Lower Control Arm Replace

1. Raise and support vehicle, then remove front wheels.
2. Loosen lower ball joint nut until it contacts drive shaft constant velocity joint.
3. Continue backing off ball joint nut until ball joint is free of spindle. Because lower ball joint nut is used to press out ball joint from spindle, nut must be replaced with a new one.
4. Remove bolt securing control arm to frame, then remove control arm.
5. Reverse procedure to install. Check to ensure that caster adjusting shim is installed as shown in Fig. 2. Shim (2) must be installed at front bushing on vehicles with manual steering or rear bushing on vehicles with power steering. Do not tighten control arm to chassis bolts until vehicle has been lowered to floor.
