Testing
Fig. 2 Turbocharger pressure check.:
PRESSURE CHECK
1. Install dial indicator to upper portion of wastegate lever arm, Fig. 2.
2. Install tool MS 554-03 to pressure regulator inlet port, then tee pressure gauge into line.
3. Set dial indicator to zero, then force air into tool mentioned above until dial indicator reads .015 inch.
4. Pressure gauge should read 12.7 psi.
OPERATIONAL CHECK
Full Load Enrichment Valve (Pressostat)
1. With engine off and throttle valve resting against idle stop, connect ohmmeter between terminals 9 and 10. Ohmmeter should read infinity. If not, replace safety valve.
2. Apply 4.35 psi pressure to enrichment valve and note ohmmeter. Resistance should be approximately zero ohms. If not, check for faulty electrical circuit. If electrical circuit is okay, replace enrichment valve.
Delay Valve-Enrichment Valve Circuit
Visually inspect delay valve for proper installation. White side of valve should face towards intake manifold, while gray side of valve should face enrichment valve.
Engine Safety Feature
1. Connect tachometer to engine.
2. Start engine, accelerate, then apply 19 psi pressure to enrichment valve.
3. Engine speed should drop to 2500 RPM or below. If not, check resistance between enrichment valve terminals while applying 19 psi pressure to valve.
4. If resistance is approximately zero, replace enrichment valve. If resistance is infinite, check for open circuit
