Whenever the charging pressure regulator or related components are repaired or replaced, a basic mechanical setting should be made on the linkage.

1. Move the control arm of the charging pressure regulator to the closed position. Remove the end piece from the control arm and adjust the end piece so that it can easily be reattached to the control arm stud, without forcing the diaphragm return spring.
2. Loosen the locknut, turn the end piece 3 1/2 turns clockwise, and tighten the locknut.
3. Pull out the push rod, connect the end piece onto the control arm stud, and install the retaining clip.
4. Test drive the car and check the charging pressure, adjusting and redriving if necessary until the pressure is within specifications.
5. Install a security seal onto the end of the control arm stud, Fig. 7.
