To Assemble

1. Fit a new clutch shaft seal, using tool 83 91 997.





2. Fit the needle bearing and its circlip into the primary chaincase. Make sure that the marking of the needle bearing faces outwards. Use tool 83 91 997.





3. Press the ball bearing onto the gearbox input shaft and fit its circlip. Use sleeve 83 90 148 and ring 87 90 867.





4. Press the input shaft with bearing into the primary chaincase.

NOTE: Preheat the primary chaincase so that the bearing will not be damaged when it is pressed in.





5. Fit the bearing support to the primary chaincase. Coat both bolts with thread sealing compound.








6. Place the circlip in the upper sprocket and then press the bearing into the sprocket (see figure). Use sleeve 87 90 859. Fit the circlip for the outer race of the bearing into the sprocket with the chamfer facing outwards.





7. Fit the chains onto the sprockets and fit the sprockets onto their corresponding shafts in the primary chaincase.








Fit the two circlips.





8. Apply thread sealing compound to the chain tensioner bolts.
Fit the chain tensioner. Fit the tensioner housing with the oil inlet opening facing upwards and fit the plate behind the tensioner so that its top edge follows the top edge of the tensioner housing.
9. Fit the gasket and the primary chaincase cover.
