Electric Antenna Malfunction In Cold Weather
On early 1992 900 and 9000 models the electric antenna may not power up in cold weather (below 40~F). The problem has been identified as a fault in the radio head. It is not an antenna malfunction.
The remedy involves the exchange of a defective radio head with a new unit containing modified circuitry. PSI Service Directive 12/91-0158 explains the exchange program that has been initiated to replace any affected radios that are in vehicles in dealer inventory. For in-service cars (cars that have been retailed), the routine for the exchange of radios is the same as used for other Clarion exchange units (see pages 97-100) in the Warranty Policies & Procedure Manual.)
See this bulletin for details on the exchange procedure, billing procedure and warranty information.
