Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.

Claim Procedure

Dealers Not Using Saab-Link (DCS):

Owner notification letters are sent to owners inside a Saab recall claim form/mailer. The claim must be completed according to the sample shown and returned to Saab. The preprinted 273 claim form is to be used by your dealership. This is necessary for payment and to complete our recall records and update our periodic recall reports to the government.

If the owner has lost the claim or it is otherwise unavailable or unusable, contact your Saab Regional Office and request a new Recall 273 claim form. If the supply of preprinted forms is exhausted, a blank claim form will be sent. This form must be filled out according to the sample pictured in this Service Information.

Claim Completion Instructions

Fill in the blanks as shown in the sample claim form. Be sure that the owner and dealership representative sign the form.

Submission of Recall Claim Forms

The recall claim form consists of a Factory copy, a Parts copy and a Dealer copy. Forward only the factory copy to:

Saab-Scania of America P.O. Box 697 Orange, CT 06477

Attn.: Warranty Dept.

Submit within 30 days of repair date. Do not use the recall claim form for any purpose other than the one intended.

Dealers Using Saab Link (DCS):

Do not send in the claim form included in the owner notification. Enter the same information as on the Recall Claim Form Sample using Saab-Link (DCS). The same Failure Coding (10273 = "Failed Part"), Part Numbers, Labor Operation Number, etc. The RAC ("Recall Action" Code) is a "3" and corresponds to the Technical Explanation on the Claim Form. No Technical Explanation needs to be entered unless you are making an unusual claim.

You must use your "Dealer Administration" function on the main Saab-Link menu to add 10273 to the Failed Part table, and 10273 to the Labor Operation Number table.

For Failed Part Code 10273, use the text "Dash Wiring Recall." For Operation No. 10273, use the text "Dash Wiring Recall," "B" for transmission, "9" for engine, "1.0" hour for model 900, "87" for the beginning year, and "88" for the ending year."

Transmit the claim within 15 days of the repair.
